State support for the elderly faces an uncertain future

Todd County, Minn. – With the second highest rate of elderly poverty in central Minnesota, Todd County relies heavily on state Medical Assistance to care for its seniors. But those programs have been the subject of budget cuts recently, and those cuts may be just the beginning. Medical Assistance will be increasingly strained as the aging population pushes long term care costs higher and higher.
