David Allen
District: 41B
Party: Independence
Residence: Bloomington, MN

Statement from the candidate:
I am committed to effective state government. For many years, I have been actively working on education and health issues -- but I have never run for public office. This past legislative session's utter failure to tackle the huge issues that Minnesota is facing convinced me that we need new legislators that are experienced managers, knowledgeable about the issues (particularly education and health care), and who are not extremist captives of special interests. I am an experienced businessperson with an excellent understanding of health and education issues, and I will represent my neighbors in Bloomington and Edina -- not special interests.

Biography:
I have a degree in economics from the Wharton School and more than 25 years experience in health care administration. Until recently, I was President and CEO of Minnesota Specialty Physicians, but now I do independent health care consulting out of a home office. I have been Chairman of the Board of the Bloomington Youth Coffeehouse Initiative for over three years, I am President-elect of the Minnesota Physician-Patient Alliance, I am a long time board member of Advocates for Marketplace Options on Mainstreet, I am a board member of the Hamm Memorial Psychiatric Clinic, and I am a board member of Bloomington United for Youth. I have been married for 22 years and have two sons. My wife Mary is Chairman of Bloomington United for Youth and former co-President of the PTSA District Council. Our sons, Treb and Matt, are students at Williams College and Grinnell College, respectively.
