Statement from the candidate:
For many years, Minnesota placed a high value on education. It is this value, and a strong work ethic, that made our state an economic success. Minnesota must make education a high priority again and ensure that all learners have the opportunity to succeed. We must focus on education, health care, and good jobs, not on lining the pockets of the wealthy or on a narrow agenda of social engineering.

Biography:
Tina Liebling was born and raised in Minneapolis. She supported herself as a waitress, nurse's aid, and shoe repairer so she could attend the University of Minnesota. After she graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Spanish, she went on to get an M.S. in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a J.D. cum laude from Boston University Law School.

Tina worked as a lawyer in the Cook County Public Defender's Office before returning to Minnesota in 1994. In Rochester she started a solo law practice concentrating on criminal law.

In 2002, Tina ran for State Representative in District 30A, coming in second in the three-way race. She is a member of the Olmsted County Bar Association, the NAACP, the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, the Rochester Rotary Club, and the Rochester League of Women Voters. She served for six years on the Dodge-Fillmore-Olmsted Community Corrections Advisory Board. She has been a leader in her faith community and a public school volunteer for many years.

She and her husband have three children, 17, 15, and 11
